Thursday nights are German nights and the most wunnerful night of the week in Ashley, and if you're not from the neighborhood it's worth the road trip! There's a friendly down home atmosphere with great service, hot coffee, and cold beer. It's definitely worth the knoephla. Not into German food or can't swing a Thursday? They have a full menu chock full of other delicious items. But remember kids, they're closed Mondays.

I was with a group of my girl cousins who were having a weekend of fun and getting reacquainted with each other after so many years of only meeting up at funerals. (yup, we're getting up there!) Earlier in the day we had the "burger bar" for lunch... What a great idea! Soooo good too. Later that evening we went back to see what the bar was like. The bar was awesome! The proprietors - the Stoppleworths, were amazing hosts. The bar has a friendly ambience. Reminded me of Cheers sort of. But way more fun! Go there if you're needing something to do. You'll be glad as heck that you did.

Recently traveled the Dakotas and stopped at Ashley where my parents once farmed. This cafe was great. It’s family owned and operated. The waitress was a hard working lady and also an owner. Wonderful service and excellent food, generous portions. I would certainly recommend eating here. Sorry I missed the Thursday “German night” because my heritage is Germans from Russia.

Stopped in town for an over night, this is where we had super and breakfast the next morning. Super was in the bar side. Good portions at a very low price. Flavor was good my only complaint is the breading on the fish sandwich was dark like it was a little over cook. Breakfast was in the restaurant side. Again we had good portions at a low price. Warning though bring an appetite if you want a pancake it is nice and thick and the size of a large dinner plate. Recommend if you are in the area.

Good food & cold drinks, always. The owners & staff work their tails off for the community. Been going for years & always enjoy my time there. Pizza to specials to pies, delicious & fair prices.

If you stop through town and need a quick bite and simple homestyle comfort food this is the place! Hidden gems on the daily specials of local German food fair too! Say hello to "Margie" for us if you stop in! We never got her real name, but she was pretty fun and good at her job!!! It got real busy on Easter with the ham special and she had every table covered with excellence! Will be back for sure!
